1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Carbonwolf Energy LLC, a Washington State limited liability company operating SummarizeShark.com ("SummarizeShark," "we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using summarizeshark.com or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
2. The Service
SummarizeShark provides an AI-powered YouTube video summarization service. You submit a YouTube URL; we extract the transcript and generate a structured executive summary delivered to your email and stored in your dashboard.
Service Availability
We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.
Service Limitations
- The Service works only on publicly accessible YouTube videos with English audio
- Summary quality depends on source video audio quality and content clarity
- AI-generated summaries may contain inaccuracies — always verify critical information against the source
- We do not guarantee processing within any specific timeframe, though we target 5–15 minutes
Important: SummarizeShark summaries are AI-generated and intended for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional legal, financial, medical, or other expert advice. Do not make critical decisions based solely on AI-generated summaries.
3. Accounts
Account Creation
You may use the free sample feature without an account. A paid subscription requires creating an account using a valid email address or Google OAuth.
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We use passwordless authentication (magic links and OAuth) to reduce credential risks. Notify us immediately at support@summarizeshark.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Accurate Information
You agree to provide accurate, current information when creating your account and to keep it updated. Accounts created with false information may be terminated.
One Account Per User
Free samples are limited to one per email address. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent this limit constitutes abuse and may result in account termination.
4. Billing & Payment
Subscription Plans
Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
Minutes and Usage
Each plan includes a monthly minute allocation based on video runtime (1 minute of video = 1 minute of usage). Unused minutes roll over for one billing period. Overage minutes are charged at your plan's overage rate at the end of each billing period.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Notice will be provided via email to your account address and/or posting on the website. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your dashboard or by emailing support@summarizeshark.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused portions of a billing period, except as required by applicable law.
Refunds
We offer refunds within 7 days of initial subscription purchase if you have not used the Service (i.e., submitted no video summaries). After 7 days or after any usage, subscriptions are non-refundable. Annual plan refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact support@summarizeshark.com.
Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will retry and notify you by email. If payment is not resolved within 7 days, your account may be downgraded to free status and access to paid features suspended until payment is resolved.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of YouTube, video creators, or any third party
- Submit videos containing illegal content (child exploitation material, terrorist content, etc.)
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service
- Use automated tools to submit large volumes of URLs beyond your plan's intended use
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute summaries without written permission
- Circumvent security measures or attempt to access accounts or data not belonging to you
- Transmit malicious code, spam, or otherwise disrupt the Service
- Create multiple accounts to obtain free samples beyond the one-per-email limit
Violation of acceptable use policies may result in immediate account termination without refund. We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who violates these provisions.
YouTube's Terms of Service
By using SummarizeShark, you acknowledge that the videos you submit are subject to YouTube's Terms of Service. SummarizeShark is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of YouTube content through our Service complies with YouTube's Terms of Service and applicable copyright law.
6. Intellectual Property
Our Property
SummarizeShark, its logo, the Herald Hammer Sharkington character, the 6-section summary format, all software, and all content on summarizeshark.com (excluding user-submitted content) are owned by or licensed to Carbonwolf Energy LLC. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
Limited License to You
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to resell, sublicense, or distribute access to the Service.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us an irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for any purpose without compensation to you.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of the YouTube URLs you submit and the summaries generated from them. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your submitted URLs and store the resulting summaries and transcripts to provide the Service to you.
You represent and warrant that your use of third-party video content through our Service does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.
We do not claim ownership over AI-generated summaries produced from your submitted videos. Summaries are yours to use, share, and build upon, subject to applicable copyright law regarding the underlying video content.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services including YouTube, OpenAI, Stripe, Supabase, and others. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience only. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content of linked sites.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
- AI-generated summaries will be accurate, complete, or error-free
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- Any errors in the Service will be corrected
AI-generated content may contain hallucinations, inaccuracies, or omissions. Always verify important information against the original source video.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CARBONWOLF ENERGY LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service
- Any inaccuracy in AI-generated summaries or transcripts
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any third-party conduct or content
- Any other matter relating to the Service
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Carbonwolf Energy LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
- Any content you submit to the Service
12. Termination
Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by emailing support@summarizeshark.com. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Paid subscriptions continue through the end of the current billing period.
Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to the Service, other users, or third parties.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.
13. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at support@summarizeshark.com. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Washington State, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations.
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against SummarizeShark.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to your account address and/or a prominent notice on the website, with at least 14 days' notice before taking effect.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.
